Hello everyone. I went backpacking last summer and never really got a chance to post this as I was away for almost 4 months. The trip to Yosemite was amazing. It was my first time backpacking, as well as my first time to Yosemite. Had a lot of fun in the backcountry and even had encounters with a couple bears. Here is a picture of Half Dome that I got, went for blue as it is my favorite color. Let me know what you guys think. Thank you! :er:

Great shot. I wish the foreground wasn't so bright though.

I actually just finished watching an amazing documentary on the National parks and if you have not seen it I highly recommend it. ((The National Parks: America's Greatest Idea)) you can get it on Netflix of stream it on Netflix.

Anyway, I was curious what your encounter with the bears was like. They pretty use to humans out there?

Yeah, I need to re-edit this to try and correct that but wanted to post this up. I will have to check out that film; bought Planet Earth/Life on blu ray and it's awesome.

As I was saying, it was my first time at Yosemite and my first time backpacking. When we first arrived to get our backcountry permits and bear cans, we were talking to the rangers there. Basically they said if you see one in the backcountry, keep your distance and if they come close..scare it away. Of course, you're also supposed to notify a ranger. We were set up at a nice backpackers camp as it was our last day in the valley and we hear people yelling, "Bear, bear, bear!" We start looking around and finally see it. A few moments later, we see a ranger sprinting after the bear yelling, "Bear, bear, bear!" We all started laughing and settled back down. Later the same day, another bear comes around. This time, my friend and I follow it and took a picture and then it kind of went away. Here's that picture of it:

Great trip and I would highly recommend going to Yosemite!

That is awesome.
Thanks for the story and sharing that pic.

And yeah, look into that video, I busted my knee up a few weeks ago and spent a weekend not being able to move and just watched the whole documentary that weekend, it was fascinating.

I love the mountains. I don't really like the photoshop that was done to the pic. It looks kind of obvious.
