You folks need to slow down !! An old guy has trouble keeping up with ya :) :)

In NZ and in Aussie we have the Australasian Harrier, really the only thing we have close to what a lot of other countries have. I would love to get to see Eagles, Kestrels, etc. Maybe one day. Aussie has a lot more birds of prey than NZ.

Anyway, the Australasian Harrier.

Head on and it just kept getting closer, too close in fact.

Magpies will take them on, no problem

Sony NEX-7 and either the Canon FD 500 F/4.5L or the 800 F/5.6L

All the best folks, I better try and catch up here. Man you folks can post some shots ;) Love it.

Danny.

Superb, Danny. #2 gets A+. And always fun to see shots of birds one doesn't have at home. Lee

Awesome shots Danny.. 1st one is near perfect, only if the eyes were visible.. The second one is amazing. Also the third one looks unique as it's taken from just below it, wouldn't mid cropping it a bit though for the feathers to be visible a bit more clearly. I envy you guys using your NEX7's and D7100's and here I am using a bridge camera :(

BTW is there a story behind the fourth one?

Very nice set.

Great set! Do these harriers try to kill you too? (everything else in that part of the world does)

They sure do !!. Anything in New Zealand is extremely dangerous and I would suggest that all photographers stay away. Terrible country. :) :)

I think you might be talking about the wildlife in Australia ?? Totally different wildlife. Nothing here to worry about, no snakes, croc's or anything to harm you at all. Just the normal mad nutters that every country seems to have now and again, we call them humans here ;)

Raj, the Hawks often fly close to the trees with nesting Magpie's, the Hawks don't stand a chance. The spur winged Plover and Pied Stilt will give them a good go as well.

All the best folks and thanks.

Too bad the photos are not available to see..I really wanted to view them, can you update the links?

Danny hasn't been on this forum in 2 years, I doubt he would come to update his post from 2.5 years ago. You might be able to find him in other forums and ask, he goes by the same name..

You never know ;-)

All the best and that's some of them anyway :)
