Hawaiian Flora and a Diamond DA40; My first C&C

I've been working with my new Nikon D3100 I got a couple of months back. It comes with me on all my hikes, so I usually shoot with just my 18-55 kit lens, and don't bring my tripod.

1. I think the ohia ali'i is a stunning flower by its self, and wanted a simple look. But I feel that the shot is lacking. Maybe crop the left? or play with saturation?

2. I love the composition of this one. Unfortunately I wanted to create a nice depth of field and realized later the entire pod wasn't in focus... comments?

3. And on an unrelated note... a diamond da40. This was my first real attempt at photoshop. honest comments? (I cropped the wings because other planes were very close to it in the hanger...)

I think the plane shot looks good, it''s a bit crooked though unfortunately.
