Photos NOT OK to edit
She is such a lovely model.

It looks like a warming filter was added in addition to the early morning light. Her face looks washed out but that may only be the makeup used. Not a good look for her.

You got to be a guy. WHY did you not pay more attention to her hair?
The top women portrait photographers that I know, taught me to pay a lot more attention to hair.

Haha, I am very much NOT a guy. Perhaps just too low maintenance of a woman.

What would you change about the hair? It's easy to make a comment like that but not back it up.

I like the warmth of the white balance. The full on light does make her face seem a bit washed out, but perhaps curves or levels adjustment might bring that down. Her hair probably matches her personality with its curls and abandoned nature. It might be that skieur was speaking to the uneven weight of her hair between left and right sides of her head at the level of her forehead. There's a large mass to her left and very little to her right. If he was talking about that fly-away strand to her right at about eye level, I really like that and think that's one of the great aspects of the portrait. I also like her forthright gaze and the hint of mischief in her expression.

John -- Glad you caught that. She is a fellow Cherokee (as I am), and we are both very free loving, no-care appearance women. I also love the fly away strand, as I feel it speaks the strongest to her nature.

I can see the point you are making about the hair being uneven, and the comment about the levels and curves is by far most insightful. I will try to edit some more to make the overall appearance less flat.

Thank you!

Well, if you look at the dress, the style is more "formal". The look of the hair suits someone more in jeans with an ultra casual top. The women I know who would wear that type of dress have well-combed hair with every hair perfectly in place. The look of the hair must match the overall look, not distract from it, or it draws attention away from the eyes of the model which is the most important part of any portrait.

I know what you're saying, and generally - I would agree. This time, I think you're wrong though.

Maybe it's just her facial expression, but I think her messed up hair works here.

Given her serious expression, it does not work at all. ;)

I agree with the WB, a little to yellow/orange and the expression dosen't fit the beach shot. Just a hint of a smile would be nice.

Her shoulders are too square to the camera... linebacker shoulders...it makes her look broad, and does not show her bust to advantage. And, it prevents the surfline from showing...this shot would benefit from a bit more of the surfline in the background I think. It appears to be an early morning shot, done at the beach, and for that reason, even though she has a lace top (formal), the hair blowing in the wind looks acceptable, even expected, to me. The colors though, look a wee bit off--not quite what I would expect or hope to see in early AM light...I think the shadowed area under he chin ought to have a deeper, darker maximum density. She's a lovely woman. That comes through in the photo. But the photo technique isn't "maximizing" the scene that she is in...I want to see more beach, more surfline, and a body angled to the camera.

I like the shot. It's a head shot as you said. Nothing to promote the beach in the background. The dress is nice and the hair looks good.
