Hi All!

I just recently got into photography and I am very interested in learning all I can. I picked up my first DSLR last June (Nikon D3100). I have been reading a lot on the forums and figured it was time I introduced myself. I look forward to chatting with you all!

Now lets hop into my first upload! Critiques? Where can I improve? All tips are appreciated.

Cropping that close on a portrait is generally unsatisfactory in the long run. There's no context and it's a head floating in space.

Thanks for the feedback. I will keep the cropping advice in mind next time. Is there a general rule you follow when you are taking a portrait picture? Do you make sure you have part of the body, and some of the background showing? Thanks!
