Help editing in photoshop

Hello everyone, I'm curently working in a homework at my school, I've been days trying to make the butterfly look the most realistic that is possible, but I just can't figure out what else to do cause I still think it looks plain, anyone has any advice?

I'd say the reason it looks fake is because a real butterfly would not land on someone's lip 'in profile', but rather flat with it's back to the viewer.

Don't butterflies have bodies? Where is the body? A proportionally-realistic-sized body with legs and antennae.

That shadow is very distracting, and I don't think it's accurate. The shadow is way too stark and even.

As 480sparky mentioned, having the butterfly in a realistic posture would help a lot.

I think I've seen those butterflies before, and that one is too small. They are larger than that.
