HELP! I need help with my nikon lens and fish eye lens

Okay - so in my haste, I purchased online, a fish eye lens. AFTER the fact i asked about it fitting my lens and she said:

" it should work as long as it's fitting onto something that's 58mm"

Okay, i have a 55-200 nikon lens. Will this work on my lens as long as I have it at 58mm or do i need a special lens for it?

I would love your help. I'm learning

The vendor is referring to the filter diameter of your lens, NOT a specific focal length. IIRC, this is a 52mm lens, so you will need to purchase a 52mm -> 58mm adaptor ring. The adaptor ring will screw into the front of your lens and the fish-eye filter (Note: While in the true, optical definition, this is a lens, photographically speaking it's more like a filter or fish-eye adaptor) will thread into that. Rings are cheap, less than $20.

Based on your description, yes. The 52mm is the diameter of the front of your lens (where you would screw in a filter). Since the vendor has indicated that the fish-eye attachment requires a 58mm diameter mount, the adaptor you've linked to, should do the job.

the friend i bought one for as a surprise has a

18-35mm lens. What kind of adapter would i need for the this same fish eye and her lens?

She is a missionary in ethiopia, so when i visit her next month, i would like to have all she needs cause mailing to her will be impossible. And i don't wanna ask her too many questions or she may catch on lol. I know its nt much, but just something small and special for her.

On the bottom side of most Nikon lenses Nikon has printed the filter thread diameter, it looks like Ø 52 mm. Which is the thread diameter for the Nikon AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED Lens .
