Help looking for zoom lens

Hello Everyone,

I have a Sony DSLR 390 and I have the 18-55 mm lens that came with it. The lens is great but I am looking for a zoom lens that allows more freedom to shoot distant shots. Working on a fixed budget, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what I should buy. Thanks for the help!

I am working with a budget of around 300-500$.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Tamron 70-300 f4.5/5.6 DI USD it goes for $450 at both B&H and Adorama. As soon as I scrape together the $, I'm getting one myself.
