Help me Pick one

Hello everyone

here is the thing. I am starting(in july) a certificate in photography to learn more about the darkroom techniques and how to use a camera efficiently.

So I got a nikon N80 body. Now I am looking for a lens to start shooting and to start my classes.

I would like to have some advice and sugestion before buying the lens. I was looking at some Zoom lens, Would that be a good Idea to buy if I want to go in the city and shoot mostly in urban areas? any sugestions on brand and what to buy would be nice.

I am starting my photography classes soon so you will see me here more often.

You should be able to get a fast 50mm prime lense for pretty cheap that will give you very sharp pictures and could be used for portraits, arcitecture, and tons of other applications.
