Any guesses on the price? Looks like a nice piece of glass.

Does it matter? LOL The new Star Series 50mm is right at $1k. I may be wrong but I'm guessing a Star Series 85 will be just shy of $1500.

If it performs as expected, that's not an out-of-line price for a top-end 85 1.4. Looking forward to seeing how it performs when you get yours.

What the heck is the "Clamp" switch for; is that a lock to prevent zoom creep?

Looks like a solid performer for Astro use.

    Locks focus to prevent creep.

I read that. It was unclear to me if it was just to facilitate a heater, or if it included the heater? And if included how is the heater powered?

The APS-C format is a bummer for me, as I'm moving to FF. However, it appears you can work with a reduced field of view in FF square.
