My friends got engaged to each other and since I know both of them I thought that I would try to get a little experience and offer to do their engagement pictures for free. C&C welcome!!!!!

Well, I would say that this definitely does not qualify as a lousy attempt. I enjoyed looking through these photos quite a bit.

1. I like this one a lot... it may be a little bit hazy, but overall very good.

2. very nice... I like this one as well...

3. The detail is excellent to see, one nit is that the front of the fingers may be a little out of focus, otherwise excellent work.

4. another good clean set up... nice work.

5. Well, my chief complaint here is that the hand is completely out of focus. This really detracts from the photo. Also, the two faces pushed together like that kinda look smushed.

6-8. Here I don't like how the pose makes the two of them look smushed together it makes her right eye and the area around it look quite awkward (a pose that you may want to avoid in the future). also, in 6, 7 his eyes look a bit spooky, wow they are green.

9-10... I like the lighting on 10 a little better, both are very nice shots though. Excellent background. This couple looks very natural and relaxed Good Job.

13. I like the proposal recreation.

14. again, nice and relaxed poses, very creative.

15. Not a huge fan of this shot, a little less creative than the others.

Overall, I loved the set, and I'll probably be borrowing some of the poses from you. Very nice :)

Ha! Self-deprecation is supposed to be a British thing. Without going through the list, most of those shots are well-composed and show a good talent for art direction and staging. I don't think 7 and 8 are as good as 6. Well done.

Thanks Nate... She was very ackward and shy and I had a VERY hard time posing her in anything close to complementary (when I did try to pose them)... These are the 15 best from the shoot and she just wouldn't smile for me... I'll keep in mind and look out for the smushed eye in #5-8 next time. I actually didn't do a lot of posing, because I'm a landscape photographer by nature and so what I would do really is find pretty places to shoot and tell to stand there and let me take their pictures. Most of these were candid.

Thanks freelunch! I really don't know what I'm doing when it comes to people photography. If you look at me Flickr... you'll see I like to take pictures with no people in them much more than I do with them.

well, I can see the landscape part now that you mention it. Probably my favorite shots were the ones with them inside of the beautiful landscape.

The close up ones were probably the weak points, but with some work I'm sure you'll have those down great in no time :)

Thanks again, and I'll keep all that in mind for next time!
