Herons are usually very private. When I kayak, the herons usually take off when I'm at least 500-600 ft. away, so I never have succeeded in capturing a decent image of a heron. Until yesterday. I was finishing up some rebuilding work at the cottage, and went to the shore to let my wife know, when I looked over, and maybe 100 ft. away in the shallows, there was a heron fishing. I watched him for a while, thinking he (or she?) would take flight any moment. But this one didn't seem to care much about me, and successfully got at least two fish. Seeing that he was otherwise preoccupied, went to the car and got the camera. He's still there. Ah - my first chance to get a decent heron shot! Waddayathink?
