Hey new here, just got a Nikon D40

Ho Ho

cool pix again

really like it !!

imageshack is fine, that's what i use, just click the resize image button and pick how big/small you want it to be.

i really like the first picture even though its been photoshoped. photosphoping your pictures doesn't make a noob, on the contrary. the others are just to big for my monitor and i can't fully see them

off topic: what lens is that you're using? 18-15? :)) just couldn't resist

i have the d60 as you can see which is VERY related to the d40 (i just went d60 for the dust cleaner and some other little things i wanted) but they are both wonderful cameras for us beginners regardless of what some people might say to "run away from them" :))

hi!
Get this book:
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-D40x-Digital-Field-Guide/dp/0470171480/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1219316699&sr=1-1"]Nikon D40/D40x Digital Field Guide by David D. Busch.[/ame]

It'll help you out A LOT.
His books are GREAT.
I have his book for the D60 and I will be getting his book for the D300.

My good friend recommends [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Photography-Bible-Daniel-Lezano/dp/071532599X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1219074502&sr=8-1"]The Photography Bible by Daniel Lezano[/ame].
She keeps telling me that it's great and I should get it.

Oh! [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Photography-Book-Scott-Kelby/dp/032147404X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1219317360&sr=1-1"]The Digital Photography Book[/ame] by Scott Kelby is good too.
I know some don't like it, but I have it and it's good for some decent short cuts on the basics of digital photography.
It's a good reference guide in a hurry.
But he's not brand specific for things, so if you want to know what brand of filter to buy, don't look in that book. He'll tell what kind of filter, but he won't tell you what brand is best. Well, he'll tell you for tripods, and maybe some other things, but tiny things like filters, he doesn't get brand specific.
And he's kind of general, like, when I looked up bracketing, it says to use the auto bracketing button on your camera.
Well, the D40 and D60 don't have that.
But it's mainly good for some "how to" info when it comes to different types of photography.

It's worth the $14 or so that it costs.
