Hi, a photography newby would like some advice re Olympus EPl8

Hi,
When I adjust an image with the touch screen operation, I enlarge the image using the slider on right hand side of screen. When the shutter is pressed the image reverts to original size and that is what is saved when images are reviewed.
Not sure what I am doing wrong, sorry for silly question!
Any advice gratefully received.

Not a silly question. The view-screen is just showing the photo and when you enlarge the screen it's just so you can check focus or see detail better. It does not change the photo. You can only make those changes with the zoom on the lens or moving the camera in relation to the subject,
