Hi! I'm new & have a few questions.

I took quite a few elective photography classes in college, but they were with my mom's old 35mm Pentax. Seven years later I find myself in need of a creative outlet. I made the mistake last year of saying I wanted a digital camera for Christmas. I shouldn't have been so vague (the one I got didn't even zoom). Can anyone tell me what a good starter camera for someone that doesn't want to start way back at photography 101 would be?
