Joined the site last month, and am enjoying every moment of being a member! Great people, great info, great place!!!

My name is Mike. Started shooting 10 years ago when I was 17. Shot film then (mostly black and white on a Nikon N8008, of which I still have and shoot with occasionally with to this day lol.) About 5 years ago I made the jump to Digital. First 3 years with a Canon Rebel XT, 2 with a Nikon D80, and now a Nikon D7000. The Rebel was a super cheap deal for me which is why I started with that, and I was un-aware (at the time,) that all of the lenses I had for my N8008 would work with a Nikon DSLR body. Luckily I was able to make my money back in the end on the Rebel, so it wasn't a loss lol.

I am in the process of taking my photography to as high of a level as I can. My main interests for shooting include portraits, automotive, bands, models, studio shooting, nature, pretty much anything ha ha! I did a small wedding for a friend of mine this past summer, and have also done a few holiday portraits, I am thinking about starting my own side business this summer.

My current equipment stable includes:

Nikon D7000
Nikon D3100 (fiancé's starter DSLR)
Nikon 35mm f/1:2D
Nikon AF 50mm f/1.8
Nikon AF 180mm f/2.8 ED IF
Nikon AF 70-210mm f/4-5.6
Nikon 18-105mm (D7000 Kit lens)
Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3
Nikon SB-600
(1) White Lightning Ultra600 + (1) White Lightning Ultra1200
A couple of Soft boxes, umbrellas, backdrops, reflectors, Quantum transmitter/slave/QB-2, and some random Paul C. Buff equipment
2011 iMac, 2007 Macbook Pro, both currently with Web Premium CS5.5

I'm looking forward to spending a lot more time on here getting to know you all, and using what I might learn on here to further my favorite hobby!

Here are a couple examples of recent shot's I have done:

These two shots were me doing some "test macro" shots with my D7000 and my 180mm ED. When I pulled into the driveway, the lighting was better, and by the time I went into the house and grabbed my tripod and camera the light changed, but I still went ahead and shot a few.

Shot this one with the D7000 kit lens. ISO: 100, Shutter speed ~250, f/11. Used my SB-600 as a trigger, and used both my White Lightning's, and my Muslin Background. One thing I didnt pay attention to was the shadow on her forehead, and I think I could've worked out a better catch light for her eyes. Lesson learned for next time ha ha!

These next shots were done on one of my first test night's with the D7000. Shot with my 50mm f/1.8 Shutter Speed ~80-100 I think (this was a few weeks ago ha ha!) ISO: 400, f/1.8

These two are some older shots (about a year ago,) shot with my old Nikon D80 and my Tamron 18-200mm

My Flickr account holds a decent example of my digital shooting from my first DSLR till now, incase anyone wants to check out my progress over the years ha ha!

This is a quick video test I did with the D7000. 50mm f/1.8 for the lens. Not a great video by any means, as it was just me messing around and seeing how the D7000 was for video quality. Shot at 1080p 24fps, Shutter speed 50, f/1.8, ISO: 400. 95% of the video was shot in manual focus:

Comments/Constructive Criticism is more than welcome!!!!! Im all about learning as much as I can!!! Cheers! :)
