How long a list would you like? There are so many and they all contain pretty much the same info. Pick one up you like the pictures in - or better still: go to your nearest library - they have loads and it's cheaper than buying.
The first book i ever bought was John Hedgecoe's Photography Basics it gives a great run down covering basic photography. Depending if you are using digital, film, 35mm, Medium format, large format...there tons of reference guides out there pertaining to each. Also a great place to look for basic and specific photo techniques is to go googlin.
