Hi, y'all :) Brand new here (& to photography) - getting my first DSLR - need advice!

I buy most of my expensive gear from amazon after researching what I want. I think the only reason to buy from a brick and mortar store these days and pay sales tax is if they throw in a free class or some other extras you want.

My local brick and mortar will price match B&H and Adorama. Even if they were 10-15% higher, I'll gladly pay the sales tax to help out the local economy.

You can occasionally get them to price match before tax, but I've never seen a B&M that will price match the final price. As much as in theory I'd like to buy local, in practice I can't afford to pay hundreds of dollars in taxes that could easily be avoided, just to help the local economy. I'm not a personal stimulus package. I do however tend to buy a lot of my accessories from local stores, and I tend to get prints done locally as opposed to through mpix.

Eh, amazon and most online retailers ship free on expensive orders (which is what I was talking about in the first place).

K, now I have my eye on the 60D..

60D is a very capable piece of kit, no question. If you plan on doing a fair bit of video then the articulated screen may be something to think about. It's larger than the others you've mentioned, and slightly heavier, so have a play about with one if you can.

It's pricey.. just don't know if it'll work.. it might, but I'm just not sure yet.. What about the Nikon D90? Can you guys help me? I want like a mid-size, very reliable one.. I know that it's a little bit older, but I want to stay in the $900-ish range.. but then again, I read the video isn't that great. Ugh.. I mean would I be better off with something newer or.. I don't know. I hate the internet. I've been searching for hours.
