I am new here and would like to share some pics to see how others view my "work". I am very new to photography...got my Nikon in January of this year. I did have a 55-300mm lens, but have recently had to sell it ..now I am working with the reg. one the camera comes with. I have been reading up on f-stop/ISO/exposure and stuff...and I also am trying to learn PS Elements9. Here are some that I took this past weekend and have only cropped them, no other changes.

Chill bro, it's only been 2 hours. This forum can be pretty slow at times and there many "first time shooting c&c" threads to go around.

Being a noob myself I'll give you what little advice I can. None of them are crap but there isn't much focus to them.

#1 could have use a closer crop, if your intent was to capture the toad you should make it readily apparent, zoom in and show us the life.

#2 Color is alright, but there's nothing that says "wow". It's very flat and the framing isn't great. A more unique perspective or larger contrast between the grey and purple would help.

#3 Best of the bunch, I like the detail in the leaf. As a general tip, layering your subject so that the background is more blurred(as in this one) helps bring out the subject and draws the viewers attention to where you want it. Try doing this with your future shots if you are attempting to zero in on details or one specific objects. As for the rest of the picture I think it's underexposed and the DoF isn't great. A smaller aperture would have helped bring the rest of the leaf in to focus.

I just seen this! LOL I forgot I even posted this thread Thank you so much for the C&C. I am still practicing a lot. I wish I could have gotten closer to that tiny toad. He was about as big as my fingertip and I was smashing myself against the ground in order to get that close.
