Hoar Frost

what is hoar frost?? i have heard of it before.. but i dont understand it...

Thanks guys, aprilraven hoar frost is just frost that grows slowly in damp environments allowing the crytals to reach an unusually large size. Some of those feathery crystals were about the length of my thumb.

Love the detail in those! Maybe it is becuase I'm a weather person, but hoarfrost is a cool thing to photograph in my opinion.
