Holiday portrait critique-PLEASE

I was wondering if I could get some critiques on the 2 photos below. Any input is welcome. Thank you.

Pay more attention to lighting. See the unattractive shadows in #1, especially on her face? The lighting in #2 is a little better on her face. It looks like you had a lamp on in #1 to her left and turned it off in #2. She's a bit too close to the tree. If you brought her out a bit more and lowered your aperture, the tree lights would be softer. You would still have the issue of those awkwardly hard shadows from her scarf and arm, so the lighting is the main thing I will point out. Hope this helps.

The lighting really needs improvement. The shadows being cast by the light sources on either side of the subject is very distracting, and it's not doing enough to even lit the scene as it's very underexposed.

Looks like the light camera right is low and the the one camera left is maybe chest level? You need to get them on on her face.
