Horned Grebe

Horned Grebe in winter plumage...strolling the warm water here on the east coast of Florida.

Beautiful shots. What lens did you use for it?

I've only seen one Grebe around here and I don't even know what subspecies it was. He was very shy and I had to stretch my 500mm to get a halfway decent shot.

Thx...Nikon 500mm F4, Hiding along the shore and waited some time for him to float towards me.

It worked well for you. Beautiful shots.

Most of my "Duck Shots" are at a state natural area ruled by a cadre of purists or something. Getting off the designated trails is grounds for a $250 fine and the trails are either a good distance from the lake or on a steep bank above it. I always have to shoot down on the ducks or get them from what seems like half a mile away.
