I really can't decide if I like this photo or not. Something feels off. It's growing on me though. Harsh but constructive C&C welcome.

The disconnect here is that the horse is blindfolded but is being portrayed in a very normal way.
The viewer knows this is unusual but the photographer isn't making a point about it and so the picture is unsatisfactory (at least to me)

Actually, that's a flymask, not a blindfold. It's see-through mesh, like those bug masks for people. Very normal summer attire for horses these days, but of course not typically seen in photos and I do agree with your assessment regardless Lew.

Other than the flymask, I think the shot might look better if some of the bottom was cropped out, to me there's too much light stuff on the bottom taking the eye away from the subject.

I'm a city girl that just moved to the country...a friend told me earlier what the mask was for, I'd been wondering. I'm right down the street from this farm, a reshoot will happen. Throwing this shot in the poo poo pile for now!
