For my part, I think this is a really useful idea.
I use Skype a lot and share screens when walking students through critiques/edits and, except for being limited to one monitor, it's great.

no, no husband, just me. I'm going on a business trip, 3 day long conference.

I think the time difference is about 7-8 hours.

I'll get my conference schedule tomorrow and we'll see if we can work something out.

... I'm not worried about the topic, but if you are, you could just pretend I know nothing about photography and explain me some things about it... You'll do the most of the talking since I don't know how to speak in English

Hell, I'm stuck in the house a lot of the time with an ill wife, I'll talk to whomever wants to talk to me.
That gets me away from 'stuff' and as long as no one is frightened by a homely, cranky guy, I've posted my Skype for exactly that reason.
If I'm not free to talk, I don't turn on Skype.

OP posted just that first post. He didn't show a desire to meet anyone in particular, nor the others did.
I, on the other hand have few people here I would like to meet and I have a nice chance during this weekend for skyping. I decided to go for it and ask Lew, because I would like to meet him.

I think that this is a great idea and I acted accordingly.

Maybe Lew should host a Google+ Hangouts whenever he is free and just have photography people come visit him. He could be a living forum! lol
I actually have no idea how Hangouts or Skype works for groups so I don't know if any of that is even realistic.
