How can this be better?

I really like this picture I took but not super proud of the water that got on the lense at the left. All in all, how could I have made a better picture?

Whether it's technique or post production..

P.S. the feather was staged. It's from a half-white/half pink egret that was in a flock of white egrets that flew away.
