How do I capture a shot like this??????

I am new to photography and I am intrigued by this shot of some friends. I am wanting some help on how to create images like this one. I have Photoshop CS6 and a Canon T2i with a 55-80mm lens.

Shoot during the Golden Hour with a large modifier on an off-camera flash. Make sure camera is crooked and the subjects like dorky poses.

In manual, meter the sky. I usually start with ISO 100, Shutter Speed 100 and use the internal meter to find the aperture. Then set your off camera flash (use an umbrella or softbox to spread the light better) to the same Aperture. A handheld meter is used for this but you can use trial and error if you don't have a handheld flash meter. You can then adjust the shutter speed up and down to control the ambient light. Faster shutter speed for a darker background, slower shutter speed for a brighter background. Just don't go beyond the flash sync (usually 1/250 but check your camera manual to make sure) or you will have half your picture blacked out.

1. Get your friends to a location like this before sundown.
2. Set up the camera on a tripod about waist-high.
3. Set up a large umbrella or soft box about 2 feet above the camera.
4. Use a fairly small aperture, like f/16 - f/22 maybe.
5. Adjust shutter speed accordingly to properly expose the ambient light.
6. Adjust flash(es) behind umbrella or softbox to properly expose the couple.
7. shoot photo.

I just love being the "New Guy," you have to learn by making mistakes. I apologize to you all for breaking the rules and not posting a link to the image. It is from my friends facebook page from her wedding photos. Here is the link. If i haven't included all that is necessary just let me know and I will correct my mistake. I am quite new to photography but I have an uncle who is a pro photographer so I have been learning pretty fast. I understand 90% of what Christina is talking about and I will give it a shot and see what happens. Thank you for all of your help. By the way this is the first forum that I have ever joined or even posted on.

The photo posted looked like it was lit full height. Will 150 Ws really be enough outdoors with the type of modifier that will evenly light 6ft tall subjects?

Hmm, I was wondering what everyone was talking about with regards to the 'angle'. Good one about an uneven tripod... I think the original photographer simply cropped and used the guy's pant leg as something to measure the angle...

super fast shutter to kill ambient and aperture ample to let the monolight light rock and it can happen
