How do I compress?

Hi all,

How do I compress files (photos to fit TPF size limit) outside of PP programs like Picasa? I don't want to do it in Picasa because that were I keep my non-watermarked images.

Make a copy of the digital image and then leverage Picasa to compress the copy?

You can also downsize within photoshop...

I take it you want to make a picture smaller, but not in Picasa??
If I am right, then all you have to is email the picture back to yourself. If you have Microsoft Outlook, outlook will take the picture and make it smaller for you-automatic-
That's what I do when I need a picture quickly-

You are mixing up several issues here and I don't know exactly what you want to do.

You can compress a file but keep it the same dimensions in pixels. 900k to 120k bytes
You can make it smaller in pixel dimensions - eg from 3000 x 2000 to 900 x 600 (this will also be fewer kbytes)

The first will yield a file that is the same size when viewed but with less detail,
either one of those things will make the file smaller in size in bytes.

Do you have Photoshop? If you do, the best way to do this would be to make your watermark in Photoshop.

1. Import your images into Photoshop.
2. Add the watermark
3. Save As .JPG or whichever format you'd want them in.

This gets rid of jumping from program to program.
