What's new

How do you use this...like seriously????

Shipping weight is 141 pounds...Must be the tripod you need to mount that bastard. Lol.

The lens comes with a hard case and accessories, but I'll bet 141 lbs as a shipping weight is a typo.

I mean its gotta have some sort of weapon hidden inside there, perhaps a missile?

LMAO big freakin puke green torpedo mounted on a hummer. Don't the SWAT guys use these things to break down doors?

If you have to ask then it is not for you.

Ahh the good old sigma rocket launcher! :)

It's not just insane in size and price but also in what it offers - a constant f2.8 from 200mm to 500mm - that is the only 500mm f2.8 lens on the market! (barring any oldies). It would be a fantastic safari lens (great for wildlife in general but mostly safari cause then you can get the jeep to do all the carrying :P )

just think how great that would be at a wedding!!

The weight would make it difficult for most applications, it couldn't be easily used with a monopod, so tripod is the only option. It isn't really long enough for doing nature stuff and again it comes down the the weight and having to haul it in a backpack to get anywhere you can't drive to. It's long enough for shooting some sports, but using a fixed focal length 400 2.8 and a 1.4 would pretty much get you close to same and easier to use, except you wouldn't have the front end "shorter" lens. I'm not really sure who would use this. It would be interesting to play with until fatigue set in moving it around.

For 35 lbs I would want a pier, rather than a tripod.

Included in the accessories is a 2x teleconverter - so it becomes a 400-1000 mm f/5.6.

I think I saw Schwetty outside my window with one of these last night... :lmao:
