I really like that shot...

Looking through some other stuff... try and be careful with your white balance and your skin tones. Unless you're doing an intentional 'vintage edit' or something, you should try and get the skin tones about natural. I saw some very red/blue hues in a few of your shots which had people in them.

Posting individual pictures or small sets of photos and embedding them directly into your forum posts is going to be your best bet on getting useful feedback.

On aside note... your watermark is a bit obnoxious... err distracting... Maybe if you made it a bit smaller? Just a thought.

I have been getting told to use RAW? image files from my canon any suggestions?

RAW is uncompressed and allows you complete control over the post prossesing... Whereas a format like JPEG is compressed by the camera. I think of RAW kinda like a negative...

I personally shoot n RAW and do all my PP with Gimp and sav the output to JPEG and/or TIFF depending on the purpose of the photos.

RAW will give you more control of editing your pictures. It is a must! You can fix more mistakes with RAW photos in post-editing.

+1 on the watermark. I would make it smaller.

The only thing that makes you better is practice.

what is the point of a watermark if its in the corner and barely visible?

this has nothing to do with the picture and it if ever print it, i doubt its going to be printed with the watermark.

because when it gets to be so big and bold it tends to draw your eye to it and becomes a distraction to the picture.
