I'm wondering if there are any general tips on how to shoot someone?
Like how to predict the best poses and any general rules when it comes to shooting portraits.
Also shooting pictures of a model?

Problem is there are dozens and dozens of tips, all of them important.

If you really don't have the first idea where to start, I'd honestly suggest a book or a workshop.

I have no idea what this book is... but it LOOKS like exactly what you need to get started.

For poses you can google all kinds of web sites with common model poses.

I've even seen iphone apps with poses....

Also, you should gather a "morgue file" if you're serious about shooting...Basically if you're seeing something in a magazine you like, or maybe online, cut and paste it into your "morgue file" as ideas for a shoot...
