How to take photos of the moon.

watch some tutorial on Socail Media Like Youtube.

never saw crop expressed that way, "crop equivalent". I like it. How do you determine it? Or does your editing software give it to you?

I may be opening a can of worms on the forum but on Canon multiply by 1.6 and Nikon 1.5. So, my Canon 300mm f 4 L is 300mm on the full frame and 480 on the crop sensor.

tripod, mirrorless camera, sigma 150-600mm zoom ... 2 sec shutter

Nice shot. Do you live in a low humidity area?

plenty of humidity in southeast coastal Virginia !

I decided to try some moon crater shadow photos, so I was waiting for the last quarter. Unfortunately the time is right but the moon rise here is 1:34 a.m.

So by the time it clears the trees on the horizon, it will be about 2:00 a.m. It is going to be a long night. :) :)

Well naturally the last quarter came and went as did the rest of the month of cold and rain. The few clear nights were low angle with the moon behind the tree line.
So it was back to an almost full moon,

I may have reached the limits of my department store telescope optics as I loose sharpness when I enlarge, and I pick up some chromatic aberrations. However I still have a couple of other lenses to play with.
