Just like the post says. I just discovered stereo images. I apologize to anyone for who this is old hat, but I'm pretty excited about it.

The premise is that there are two slightly different images of the same subject laid side by side. You cross your eyes until a third image appears between the first two, and try to focus on it. Once your eyes lock focus on the new "third" image, it will appear to be in 3D.

I just got finished with these two. Nothing spectacular image wise, just trying a concept. The picture of the plant really shows of this concept more than the other. It's a really cool concept that I can't wait to explore further. There seems to be a lot of possibilities for it. To get teh full effect, make sure to expand the pictures to their biger size.

pretty cool, the second works better than the first, really looks lke the leaves are coming outta my computer

I've never had trouble with the "stereo=grams" you see with all the dots scattered about an inch apart or so, but I have trouble crossing my eyes enough to see these really well unless I make them smaller. Neat effect, though - I've never seen it done with photographs before.

Okay actually I tried again and I can do it if I put a finger in front of me and focus on that until the two sides match up, and then with a little practice I was able to get the photos to focus. Gives me a headache though.

I got the Buddha to work but the plant is too non-geometrical for me to be able to focus.

These things always make me feel like the dude in Mallrats who can't see the 3D stuff...they never work for me.

They both work for me and they're both well done imo.

These types of images are obviously best suited for naked ladies.

pretty cool...yeah the plant did stand out more than Buddha

These two took about 5 minutes each. I'm excited to see what I can come up with when I spend more time and get better subjects............

And yes, yes they would be best suited for that.

I wish I had learned to cross my eyes...can't see anything other than blur. Is this supposed to work like those magic eye things or do I literally have to cross my eyes?

I love this stuff.

Here are a couple of "cross your eyes" type 3D images I've made:

From a cave in Tennessee:

Once you get the hang of it (without feeling seasick) these are great. Like the roccky coastline, great depth to it.

You have to cross your eyes, or use a tool called a "stereoscope". Apparently only something like 50% of people can see these images without the stereoscope.
