What's new

i need a challenge

Are you creepy looking or something? ;) Kidding!

I've only been yelled at once, and that was because I was photographing at night behind a police station and didn't realize it. I thought it was just a pretty courtyard
Go exploring in the middle of nowhere. You can find some interesting things, and usually no one is around to hassle you.

Have you tried telling anyone that approaches you that you took a photo of them because they stand out in a crowd, in a good way? Then I'd suggest patting them on the head and putting a gold star sticker on their shirt and sending them out to recess, because they're acting like children.

im starting to get tired of shooting the same thing over and over and over again (lake and buildings and trees)

thats all there is around here, that and when i try shooting in public people automatically think they have the right to tell me i cant do that. (i know my rights when shooting in public) i try to tell them otherwise but they wont listen, all they do is get angry and threaten to call the cops on me for invasion of privacy.

how am i invading your privacy in a public place? not like im a peeping tom looking in your windows from the sidewalk

please give me some ideas, im all out of muse

Ok, here are a few suggestions. Head over to River Run Country Club, go into the Pro shop (if they have one) and photograph the clubs. Try to get good angles and interesting shots. The golf course right when the sprinklers comes on could be very interesting. Set up where they are slightly backlighted and set up where you can change your shutter speed quickly. Try getting shots at from 1/600 all the way up to 2 or three seconds.

Head over to Davidson College taking your 70-200mm lens and take some shots in the library of the school. Look for colors, patterns, disruptions in patterns etc etc. Look for the unusual in usual places. New angles, new lighting etc etc.

I know you said that your car might catch on fire if you drove it a long distance... One thing I bet you did not know is just how affordable renting a car can be. I just looked and if you wanted to you could rent a car from Pick Up Jun 17, 2011 @ 5:00 pm Return Jun 20, 2011 @ 5:00 pm for as little as $58.12 If you chose to return it on Sunday night, it would only be $38.72. I do not pretend to know anyone's budget, and I know money is tight right now for almost everyone, but if you skipped Starbucks for two weeks you could rent a car for the weekend and go just about anywhere you wanted to. I know this because our vehicle has ~260,000 miles on it and my wife is scared to death to drive it out of town so whenever we want to go somewhere out of town we have to rent a car lol.

Even if you can't get away, try to be MORE creative than usual, try laying down on your stomach, on your back and looking around at the things you have photographed before in a new perspective and a new light. Laying down next to my house one day I noticed up under the edge of my house there was a HUGE yellow jackets nest. I would have never seen them if I had not lain down to rest after cutting the grass. Now, that would have made an interesting shoot if I had had more than a P&S back then. http://www.goodismanlab.biology.gatech.edu/Images_for_photos/Yellowjacket workers in nest.YJ.LG.jpg

Anyway don't get discouraged. I live in a place that I am SURE just about everyone here reading this would LOVE to come photograph, but I find myself very uninspired since I live here, work here and put up with everyone's $h!& from here.

IF you go to a crowded place, like downtown or a place where people expect tourists, people tend to feel less sensitive about cameras.

You can also join meet up groups. When you are with a bunch of photographers on the street, people tend not to be as suspicious. They will think that there is an event or something, and won't single you out for making them feel uncomfortable. Plus, you will meet other photographers and learn a trick or two.
