I need constructive criticism on photo

OP: Cool pic man, bet you have lots of different but cool caps. I know you want constructive crit I'm only a hobbyist and not very good at that which is why I sift through these forums for "Lessons Learned" and how to shoot well on the cheap. The only thing I think is off is the crop, I kinda think there should be more subject. Maybe cropped just below the knees and that would let you push her off to the right more. Then I could tell if she was dancing (the background suggests motion?) or posing. But Im a noob so flame me too hard.

I freakin' love it! It is visually pleasing, colorful, creative, and unique. My only hang up is that I want to see the whole left hand follow through a little further down the body line.

I'm not a big fan of the added fake lens flare effect...it looks terrifically false...otherwise, not too bad I suppose...kind of a faraway feeling a bit....but it has some "feeling" to it. Her placement in the frame and the odd place she is cut off though, and all that extra top space make me wonder "why"???

Agreed - the multiple direction of the motion is confusing and seems to have been done in photoshop for the sake of using photoshop. You have the rapid background going diagonally and her hair pushing backwards. I'm a fan of the abstract photography but with this you're showing so much of the subject and have so much establishing room, that some level of context should be revealed. Ask yourself the question, "why" a lot.

The strongest part of the image I think you have succeeded at is the color scheme. I like the tonality of her skin and the background, it's exciting but a still somewhat limited palette in a good way. Also ditch the fake lens flare, you won't regret it.

It seems to be taken out of a larger photoshop composition. Maybe mixed in with other elements it could work but standing alone it falls flat.

Hello, I'm very new but wanted to attempt to add to the conversation.

When I first saw the photo I was looking at her hair and I find that very interesting. Personally, I don't notice the girl very much. So for me if the photo was meant to show the hair then it makes sense in that way. If it was meant to show the girl, then I loose her some due to the hair and background.

So far, I seem to prefer more naturally made backgrounds. I'm sure this is more personal preference than anything else.

I was wondering what you were looking for from the photo? I think if I knew what you wanted to show with the photo it would help me better understand what you did there.
