Are all these shots going to be in sunlight?

Something like a Canon Rebel T3 with the kit lens can be had relatively cheap (especially used), and it will be alright if you're shooting outside in good light. The kit lens has threads intended for a filter as well.

As other's have said though... snap shots on auto mode from any camera are not going to get you "high quality", but it will get the job done. If they want results that are on par with professional photos, they'll need to learn photography and lighting.

Yes they are all going to be taken during the day.

Yeah, I was trying to tell them that its not all about the camea you have to know what your doing too! So we'll see : )
