I want a hippopotamus for Christmas

whoa, that's cool. i love the second one. is this a yawn or is it mooing/barking/howling? i'm a dork, i have no idea what kind of noise a hippo makes :???:

I love that Hippopotamus comerical....gets that song stuck in my head all day.

Hippos are cool, did you know that they kill more people in Africa than any other animal...or is it just more than crocodiles?

He is a young male who just before this was warned off by a female with her baby. He then went towards two others (females?) on the sandbar who went into the water, and I think he was venting his frustration at them with very loud calls. Not a hippo expert, but we spent 3 weeks around the KZN (northeast) area, and about 1400 pictures later we came home. We got some great pictures from the Hluhluwe game reserve. More to come.
