i'm not sure about the crop on both pictures. i think rather than B/W you could show the real colors of the croc.
2nd picture - i'm not sure what i'm looking at.

#2, the peak of a roof, would work well as a square crop. I like it.

Yes, #2 is the peak of a roof.
I'll make a square one later this day.

As for the crops, there is practically none. Both photos are as taken with my camera.
