I'm getting my new lens!!!

My Canon 85mm 1.8 should be here in a couple of days!!!!

Anyone having great luck with this lens! I wanna see your pictures!

This is probably a fine lens depending on what you're using it for.

I rented it once to shoot basketball but the auto focus couldn't keep up so I switched it to manual focus and did it myself. At first I thought the problem was me until I ran into a sports photographer from the local paper. He had the same problem with this lens trying to shoot sports. Maybe it's not designed for sports.

But even after this, I wouldn't mind owning one myself. It's probably a great portrait lens.

I bet that would be hard. I am using it for portraits. I'm so excited!!
I was going to start with the 50mm but with a few recommendations I moved forward to this lens.

Keep in mind, you don't have to shoot with it wide open. I find that stepping it down to f/2.8 gives me a nice sharp shot with a DOF I can actually work with. At f/1.8 it's way to shallow for faces, imo.

Seriously... I looked at the extra moola and was thinking.. yeah... not anytime soon could I get that.

So far I LOVE the 85mm 1.8!! Still playing with it. Still working out the bugs.
