What's new

I'm impressed with me :)

lol that DARN truck! I could tell that the back wasn't in focus... I got frustrated with it because I could tell on the camera LCD that it wasn't quite coming out as sharp as I wanted it to... :/

The issue with the truck is that it's hard to find the area, when scanning it, that is sharp.
This is next weeks assignment, so we'll get you a chance to do a few things to help you get better at manipulating your depth of field.

sounds good ;)

I'm going to be having fun with this WB one lol.. I know the pic I had sent you in the "application" was kinda blue lol

Looks like you're getting some great help in here, can't wait to follow your progress!

Anything else on the reshoot pics?

agreed on the f/16 comment. You definitely need more DoF. Also, it appears that you focused on the front of the fire truck. Since you put it on a diagonal, the back of the truck is farther away from the lens, and out of focus. If you focus on the middle of the truck, more of it will be in focus. Doing that, and using f/16 should do the trick!

Also, post process your photos! It's going to do wonders for them!

Better yet, if you want the entire truck in focus, focus on the area 1/3 behind the front of the truck. Remember that the DOF extends 1/3 in front and 2/3 behind the plane that you focus on.

Good comments to your work!...keep going..as far as focus goes..I would use a very shallow focus just on the front of the truck...I think it would make it much more interesting..sometimes a little mystery makes a better shot than one by the book! Checlk out my website for some cheap lighting and how to use them.

In product photography, like what she is trying to do, most will agree that it is important to have the whole subject in focus.

too much contrast?
