Image Stabilized Lenses

Can the IS feature on Canon lenses be disabled?
I'm thinking that the IS would be great for static shots and would help cancel my DT's but if the lens was used for tracking a moving object then it seems the IS would be a problem.
Comments anyone?

Yes, the Canon IS lenses have a switch to turn IS on or off.

My IS lens have two modes one for static and other for tracking. Not sure when this option was added, so if you buy used remember check for that.
