im kind of in a rut with my photography. i live in Yonkers NY and i have the day off, its beautiful outside and i want to get out and shoot. Problem is i have no idea where to go. does anyone know some good places to shoot in the lower westchester area of NY?should i just take a long walk? (mostly sidewalk and houses) im feeling confined to the same old places when i shoot, i want a challenge, a new spot with new opportunity. any helo would be appreciated! thanks guys!

Just get out to a part of town you've never been to, and start looking around. It's surprising what you end up finding.

you're looking too hard.

A great shot can be anything, you just have to see it in a new light. Relax and look at the mundane with new perspective.

I don't live in NY but, if your surrounded by the same things as always, maybe try different techniques, new styles. Look at old photos and see what you don't have, maybe look for something specific you want to shoot. Once you get out there, if your anything like me, you'll get lost in it and find some great shots.

Street photography, there must be lots of characters on the streets of NY

haha there absolutely are, but im hesitant to take pictures of strangers, i feel like they would get mad or hostile and i don't want to upset anyone.

thanks for the suggestions! im going to go out for a few hours today and see what crosses my path.

post up what you find!! I'm jealous that you have off today!!!

If the day off in question had plenty of good weather and sunshine I'd feel compelled to go out and shoot even if I always go to the same place. There are countless shots I've taken in my regular stomping grounds that I haven't mastered yet. I go to a local spot frequently and I seem to find new things to shoot every time. Good luck and good shooting.
