Initial thoughs & photos

Hey all

I'm just getting started on this forum. I'm here to learn about photography and the techniques behind taking good photos; and of course to improve the photos that I take. I thought it would be appropriate to start by posting some photos that I've taken to get some feedback and see what you guys think and how I might improve.

I've just added the links to flickr as I can't seem to get the actual photos to come up - not real technical savy...

Thanks for taking the time to look at these photos and provide some feedback.

Some very nice work; I especially like your Peyto Lake capture. For detailed feedback, you'll have to choose 2-4 images and embed them in your post. A little searching on this forum (including the pinned thread at the top) should give you the answers to your image-posting difficulty.

I agree, you've got a good start. For landscape, which it seems is what you are mostly interested in, I recommend Amazon.com: National Audubon Society Guide to Landscape Photography (9781554071951): Tim Fitzharris: Books. I just read it for the second time and it is an excellent read. He does most of his work with medium format cameras (film & digital), but the content still applies to DSLR.
