Introduction and Baby Photos

Hello Everyone! Wanted to make a quick introduction since I am new here. My name is Ginger and I have been serious about photography since 2007. I would love to get to know everyone and also I am in need of some serious critiquing of my work. I just recently started photographing babies and this is a completely new world to me. Eventually, I would love to open a studio, but realize that I probably have a lot more ropes to climb. Thanks in advance for all of your help! Welcome! Image #1 is nice; about one stop too hot around the face, but other than that, nice. #2 however doesn't do too much for me. The horizontal centering, over-exposure, vignette and the monochrome treatment just add up to an 'overdone' image. I think this one needs to be in colour, especially to help differentiate the blanket from the child's hair.

Just my $00.02 worth - your mileage may vary.
