IS clunk?

I just rented the Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM and when I have the IS on and press the shutter button half way, I hear a clunk. But when I turn the IS off I don't hear it so I'm assuming it's the IS. Is this normal for this lens? The 28-105 that my 40d came with has IS as well but that sounds more like electric static when the IS is working.

IIRC, mine did too.. I believe it is normal.

whew ok, I'm so paranoid of carrying around over $2k worth of equipment in my hands I've been considering wrapping everything in bubble wrap several times lol
