I just got a Canon Rebel t2i and needless to say im speechless.

Ive read these cameras are somewhat durable, but im in the babying stage right now so I want it to travel in the best accommodations possible.

I was lucky enough to have a pretty nice [for all i know] camera bag given to me to start me off with.. its a "quantaray pro" bag, pictured below [i think its the h10 model]. Would this be an acceptable case for the camera to ride in? or does the official cannon bag have protective layering designed for the shape of this specific camera?

Also, should i keep it in the bubble wrap it came in when in the bag [loosely wrapped of course to prevent moisture buildup] as another shock absorber?

Lastley.. now that i have the camera and bag.. does anyone recommend a cleaning kit? I dont want to start using this thing without the tools to properly maintain it from day one.

from the example images ive seen.. this is a precision instrument,, and i want to keep it that way.

thanks for your help!
this is fun!

Decent bag for just the camera but what happens when you get more equipment you will have no room for expansion.

Bubble wrap is not necessary. The bag will protect it just fine in normal conditions.

As far as a cleaning kit, a microfiber cloth will do just fine. Maybe a Rocket blower too. There isn't much maintenance to do on these cameras, just gotta take care of them and they should last for a long time.

thanks for the speedy replies!!

ill definatly be upgrading the bag when i expand my lens selection..

as far as actually storing the camera in this bag.. i was told to leave the lens attached and to place the camera inside with the lens facing up, this way theres no pressure on the lens. When removing from the bag, i was told to hold it by the lens itself and pull the unit gently from the bag.. is this sound advice?

I went to wal-mart and bought their 10 dollar (4) pistol hard case. two sheets of egg grate foam and a perforated flat sheet that allows you to removed squares until you equipment (or guns) fit perfect. I love mine. I've got holes for my body, the strap when coiled up, both lenses, cleaning kit, battery charger and possibly another lens if done carefully.

PS: all my books, filters, collapsible hoods, and media discs below the perforated but on top the second egg crate layer so nothing is going to get beat up.

Yupp, Sounds good to me. I might put it in on it's side, or with the lens down first. Doesn't really matter. However it fits in the bag better really.

I prefer bags where the camera can go in with the lens facing down, because they seem to make the camera quicker to pull out when I want to shoot. But I do sports/event coverage mostly so my camera goes in and out of the bag quite often.

here is a pic of the hardcase i built. its not really all that great for quick removal or the camera...but its awesome for travel and such!

Nice man. Between me and my friend we have 6 of those same exact cases from walmart. I use mine for flashes and lighting gear and he uses his for audio stuff (mics, etc) as he's a videographer.

I prefer a bag for my camera though. The cases are just too bulky most of the time.

Heres a GREAT camera bag that i use for my T1i and other equipment. fantastic bag holds everything nicely, and has Velcro straps(as the whole interior accepts Velcro) that secure everything in the bag. LINK

one with a cleaning kit and some other goodies. LINK

Now if your looking for a bag where you can quickly whip out your camera. Heres a couple of bags that canon came out with.LINK

Hope this helps,
