Is this ok??

Lots of child photographers use shallow depth of field but....it has to be in focus. F/1.8 isn't going to produce sharp images though. You can still have a really shallow DOF with a smaller aperture.

With the first picture the reason her eye is OOF is probably because she's angled to the camera (different focal plane maybe). Also you need some distance between you are your subject to be able to have a DOF large enough to have the much in focus. If you are 3ft away at 1.8 you have .07 ft of DOF.
