What's new

Is this post-processing OK? (C & C)

too much yellow for me...

Just to clarify: well, it is yellowish: I did a sepia duo tone on the picture. Do you think it doesn't work well for the scenery?

oh yea, that's what i mean.
the color setting doesnt match the scenery.

maybe a little bit of contrast and green filter on photoshop.

OK, I'll post another image soon. I use GIMP by the way for my photo editing needs GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program

I wanted to capture a warmly dark, foresty mood, but I think it has become too warm.

A little to much reflection on the water, an ND filter would clear that up. Otherwise it's not a bad picture.

OK, how is this?

In the second edit I used "recover shadows" (FX-Foundry) and then simply cranked up the saturation a little. The colours are otherwise natural.

In the first, I wanted to get an atmospheric (warm) feel as though you are in a forest region and I feel it's a decent effort. However, I realize that it's not natural. I hesitated a lot before choosing the first one to put up.

Thanks. What is it about the first that doesn't work? The lack of colour or the specific tones?

I prefer the first one, kind of makes the picture seem older then it is and I like that.

Second edit makes it look like an ordinary shot.

I had the same feeling about it. I thought the first one is more atmospheric and I think you expressed my own thoughts on it.

However, I realize that each has their own view of things and I respect contrary opinions too. That's why I love sharing pics. To know what others think. :)

first one reminds me of an eerie vietnamese river or something, humid and foggy. second edit looks underexposed and blah.

what white balance did you shoot this in?

It was set on Auto white balance when I took the shot.

I think the lighting was not excellent. It was just past noon and sky was cloudy.

It was taken on a day trip.
