I noticed the spots as well,Perhaps It's an artificial back ground someone spattered a beverage on. Looks like my kids where there with drinks.LOL

IMO, I think those spots are a result of her signature look. I don't think she is going to share that.

I was thinking like I were to shoot a book cover and leave it open for plenty interpretations

Why wouldn't I share information about how I did something? Thanks to the people who shared their knowledge I'm here where I am now.

So, to answer your questions, those "spots" are the texture I applied to the picture. In lots of cases I apply a texture just so you know

You know, I am always "thinking" in b&w. The idea is good for nice pictorial "thing". Which would be even "better" for book cover. Look through pictures made by Rodchenko, mostly for the angles of his shots.
