Still getting used to the Nikon system. But the AF alone is incredible compared to what I've been struggling with for years. No noise while the AF does it's thing ; LOL I still can't get over that part.

Anyway... couple shots from the back 40 from last night. Thanks for looking.

Nice set and very pretty birds but you could've used a little faster shutter on the cardinals to keep the glaring white down.

Thank you all for the comments. I appreciate it.

Yea, she was quite sunny and it's not often the male makes himself available, especially in the middle of the afternoon lol. I didn't want the shadowed area too dark, so I did drop shutter to around 500. Learned something for next time anyway :encouragement:

Understood. Once you learn the little tricks in PS it can all be worked out for the most part.

Yea, I don't really do much editting. I like the purist pursuit of getting it in camera.

Thank you. They are one of my favourite birds. We hear the males all the time, but usually only see them first thing in the morning and right after sun down.
We actually have 3 mated pairs that live in the cedars around our property, they over winter and even bring the babies to the yard to eat. Pretty cool seeing mini Cardinals
