Just curious what's that dark greenish circle around the pupil?

Hi everyone

I was just playing with my camera shooting straight in the eye of a friend. Now I see that is a dark greenish circle around the pupil and I can't figuere out what it is and how could if possible be avoided.

It's your lens, as was mentioned...the shot is one of the sharpest eye shots I've seen on here, can you really not see that it's your lens? Hell I can see what you ate for lunch by the stains on your shirt!

I wear specs as I have e very poor sight....

Thanks Jaemi! In this one the fastidious circle around the pupil it's less visible....I guess it has to do with the distance between the eye..or the position to shoot...or the lens hood...
